Soil composition is one of the most important factors in
gardening. We recommend a good quality potting soil or a
moisture control container mixture.
If you live in a dry climate or tend to forget to water your
plants from time to time you should consider a soil that contains
a water retention agent such as coir fiber (ground coconut hulls)
to help hold some of the moisture.
You may also wish to use an organic soil that contains natural compost and peat moss.
It is always best to speak to your local gardening center as they know the growing
conditions in your specific area and can recommend the best mixture for your planter.
Plant Pyramids are designed to be a versatile planter that can be used to create any type of garden.
It is always best to plan your garden prior to starting, and for best results we recommend placing plants
that do NOT grow too tall on the lower levels. Plants like herbs, lettuces, and Swiss char
will grow in nicely and fill in your shelves.
Plants that require room to spread can be planted in the bottom shelve and left to grow out on the
surrounding landscape (Always leave enough room for your plants to spread out)
Plants that grow vertically such as tomatoes, peppers, eggplants can be planted on the top shelve
and should be staked to maintain their structure.
We do recommend that you use a dwarf variety of tomatoes as a standard tomato plant can grow up
to 5 ft and create a top heavy planter.
There are many great varieties on the market and once again a local garden center will be able to help you choose.
All plant pyramids are manufactured out of Western Red Cedar and require little or no maintenance.
Cedar has a natural component in it that prevents rot, and will retain its beauty for years to come.
If you are using you planter as a edible garden we DO NOT recommend staining or painting your Pyramid
as it could cause cross contamination with your root system.
If you would like to keep your planter all natural, but would like to tint the wood, we recommend you
use a mineral oil to darken the wood a bit. (Available at most hardware stores)
No. The 3 and 5 level planters are designed to assemble in a matter of minutes.
Simply set up upright supports by pressing the supports into the centering core
and drop down your shelves. No tools or additional hardware are needed.
Plant Pyramids are manufactured using Premium Red Cedar and stainless steel fasteners.
Under normal use, our Pyramids will last over five years, making it a worthy investment into your gardening future.
The Plant Pyramids are built to withstand North American winters.
As with any garden, we do recommend that all plants are removed at
the end of the season and composted or discarded. You can leave your
Pyramids outside to brave the elements but freezing the wood could cause
premature cracking and ageing.
Most gardeners will empty their planters and place them in storage. The
pyramids unique design allows them to be condensed down and require minimal storage place.
